CONCEALMENT IS A HUGE ISSUE FOR WOMEN
With so many clothing styles and options, we can't always carry our handgun on our belt. There is such confusion over holsters for women. Lifestyles and jobs can contribute to the frustration of finding a proper holster and a place of where to conceal your handgun.
Women have multiple challenges carrying a firearm. Many of those challenges are due to the curves and shorter waists of the female body. Adding to the problem is finding holsters that can be worn comfortably, discreetly, and safely while allowing for effective access to the handgun should the need arise.
Most holsters are designed by men for a man's body and typical male clothing styles. In the pant holsters can be tricky depending on a woman’s frame. Women with smaller frames have a little bit of a challenge concealing their handgun on their hip or within the small of their back. The trick is to get one or two pant sizes bigger and a size bigger in shirts. This way you can wear a belt that will help not only hold your handgun on you securely and in place, the larger clothing will also help to conceal the bulge from the handgun.
For larger, full-figured women the challenges are even greater. A large bust makes reaching for the handgun difficult and sometimes impossible if crossing the body is necessary. A fuller middle also interferes with accessibility. Clothing styles and options that accommodate concealed carry are limited, which only adds to the problems and can be very frustrating. For some women, the combination of these challenges makes typical methods of concealed carry so uncomfortable and frustrating that they give up trying to carry a concealed handgun.
